Sherlocks is a chef-proprietor restaurant opened by Joan Martin in 1988.
Joan has been a chef, running her own restaurants, for over 35 years, initially
with a successson of three in Devon and moving to Aylesford when family life
brought her to Kent.
She has always promoted informal and unfussy dining in her restaurants,
a theme fully evident in Sherlocks. Joan brings all of her extensive experience to
bear, including association with continental restaurants, in producing
imaginitive and freshly cooked dishes.
Sherlocks is located in the heart of Aylesford village in what was built as the post office
and general store in around 1874. Built by Thomas Brassey, the railway magnate,to serve
the village’s needs as he constructed the Medway Valley railway line, it retains many of its
original charming features, especially the wooden spice and post office drawers, shelving
   and post box shute.

Aylesford itself has much character, especially from its connections with the River Medway,
   which is at its heart.
